2e wijn van Château Leoville Poyferré Het boeket is heel typisch voor zijn terroir, met toetsen van grafiet. Uitnodigende fruitige nuances van kers, zwarte bes en zoethout. Het gehemelte is zacht en soepel. De tannines zijn zijdezacht en goed geïntegreerd, terwijl de zuurstructuur voor een aangename frisheid zorgt.

Productieproces
De druiven worden met de hand geoogst. De alcoholische gisting vindt plaats in dubbelwandige, temperatuurgecontroleerde roestvrijstalen vaten met geselecteerde gisten. Na een koude maceratie van vijf dagen bij 5°C vóór de gisting, duurt de gisting 4 tot 6 weken. Na het vullen van de vaten vindt malolactische gisting plaats in de vaten, gevolgd door rijping in 100% vaten gedurende 20 maanden, met 80% nieuwe vaten en 20% wijnvaten. The 2022 Léoville-Poyferré is super-exotic. Dense and pliant, with striking mid-palate depth and exquisite balance, this is pure sensuality. Red cherry, apricot, blood orange, wildflowers and spices all meld together as the 2022 opens in the glass. Seamless, refined tannins extend the mid-palate and finish. The purity of the fruit is remarkable. I also find the new wood imprint—long a signature here—much less evident than in the past. Earlier picking in the Merlot today yields a wine with more red fruit tones than in the past, when Léoville-Poyferré was a darker wine. It will be interesting to see if these are long-term trends. Tasted three times. Stellar.

A mind-blowing Leoville Poyferre, probably one of the best for a long time. Huge depth and structure, showing a deep matrix of fruit full of fresh blackberries and a dash of ink and lead pencil. Such verticality on the full-bodied palate with beautiful balance and a clear finish that goes on and on for more than a minute. Great potential ahead. This was tasted at the UCGB tasting and was one of the best wines of the day. Drink after 2028. It should improve in the next 10 to 15 years.

"Ma meilleure note donnée à ce cru en Primeur 19.5 // 99 Couleur sombre, intense, pourpre et belle. Nez intense, fin, fruité, pur et subtil. Touche crémeuse à l'agitation. Bouche toute en minutie fondante, avec de l'éclat dans le goût, un corps moelleux, d'une profondeur supérieure à d'habitude. Complexe, énergique, le vin évolue sur une puissance bien contrôlée, sur une grande finale à la tannicité noble. C'est tellement troublant. Assemblage : 58 % cabernet sauvignon, 34 % merlot, 4 % cabernet franc, 4 % petit verdot. Degré d’alcool : 14°4 (moyenne) – pH : 3,87 (moyenne plus). IPT : 93. rendement : 33 hl/ha au lieu de 45 en moyenne. 2032 - 2055"

Le nez, subtil et envoûtant, révèle un fruit délicatement fondu et harmonieux, ainsi que des notes de laque de chine, sublimées par la délicatesse de la rose pourpre et la gourmandise d’une ganache au chocolat. La bouche est intensément fruitée, juteuse et expressive. Toute l’opulence signature de Poyferré s’exprime ici avec majesté. À la fois mûr et structuré, le vin vibre d’une énergie irrésistible. Un vrai délice.
