Donkere robijnrode kleur. Eerste neus met aroma's van toast en vanille. Na het schudden zeer geconcentreerde aroma's van rood fruit. Het gehemelte is dicht, elegant en evenwichtig, met aroma's van zeer rijp rood fruit. Geroosterde toetsen begeleiden de wijn voor een lange afdronk.

A solid young Pauillac with blackcurrant, chocolate and walnut aromas and flavors. It’s full-bodied, yet tensioned and framed, with medium, ripe tannins and a curranty finish. 70% cabernet sauvignon, 26% merlot, 2% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot.

Barrel Sample. Run by the same winemaking team as Château Batailley, this small estate has made a richly structured wine that is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon. Firmly embedded in the tannins are the fine black currant fruit flavors. The wine will certainly age well.

The 2019 Haut-Bages Monpelou displays fine intensity on the nose of blackberry, undergrowth, freshly rolled tobacco and a touch of pencil box. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins and fine grip. The intensity is neatly offset by the thread of acidity. More red fruit arrived on the finish, and a dash of white pepper lingers on the aftertaste. Recommended.

Knitted down and concentrated cassis and bilberry fruits, it needs time to allow the juice to flow in through the fairly firm tannic frame. This has potential for impressive medium-term drinking, just a tiny bit thrown by some bitteredged tannins on the close of play. Consistent value and quality at this estate owned by Philippe Castéja of Batailley.

Château Haut-Bages Monpelou, beschouwd als het "kleine broertje" van Château Batailley, is een van de drie oorspronkelijke wijngaarden van Château Duhart-Milon. Gescheiden en gekocht in 1948 door Marcel Borie, leidt het sindsdien een onafhankelijk leven. Zijn schoonzoon, Emile Castéja, nam de leiding van het domein over. De wijngaard wordt nu beheerd door het technische team van Batailley. De geproduceerde wijn is elegant en vol, dankzij een bijzonder goed doordachte druivensoort.
